Descrição
This is a xilogravure, hand made carved into a block of Pinus wood. The scene captures the Piracema, the sacred moment when fish swim against the current, leaping and running up the river to spawn.
The image was printed using a rich, oil-based ink, which was hand pressed with Baren into a delicate sheet of Japanese kozo paper. This traditional paper, weighing a feather-light 45 g/cm2, has absorbed the ink deeply, capturing every nuance of the carved wood grain and the powerful movement of the fish in the water. The limited edition of 35, numbered and signed by the artist
